Someone in Business Bay pulls out their phone at 11 AM and searches "accounting firm near me." Google shows 3 results on the map. None of them is you. Your office is 400 meters from their building. Your service is exactly what they need. But Google doesn't know that because you never told it.

Look for three things. First, do you appear in the map pack, the 3 results Google shows with a map at the top? Second, do you appear anywhere on page 1 of the regular results? Third, click on your Google Business Profile listing if it exists. Is the phone number correct? Are there photos from the last 6 months? Are there reviews from the last 90 days?

Prominence means Google sees evidence that your business is well known and trusted. Reviews are the biggest factor here. A business with 140 reviews and a 4.7 rating ranks above a business with 6 reviews and a 5.0 rating. Volume matters more than perfection. Asking every customer for a review after service is the single highest return activity in local marketing.

Posts on your Google Business Profile signal activity. Fresh photos signal relevance. Responding to reviews signals engagement. None of this takes more than 30 minutes per week. The businesses that do it rank. The ones that don't are invisible.
